The I’On community was envisioned and developed by Vince Graham, known for his earlier work on the Newpoint community in Beaufort, South Carolina. Established on April 30, 1995, I’On is a prime example of New Urbanism, featuring traditional neighborhood development. It was designed by the renowned town planning firms Dover, Kohl & Partners, and Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company. Although the original proposal sparked controversy, with plans for a more urban, diverse village of over 1,200 units—including multifamily homes and rentals—the final design settled on a more intimate community of around 762 single-family homes. The development also includes a charming village square and spaces for civic buildings like churches and schools.

Tennis enthusiasts at The I’On Club enjoy top-tier facilities, including six meticulously maintained clay courts nestled beside peaceful, protected wetlands, providing the perfect backdrop for your game. The club’s tennis program is proud to have earned the United States Tennis Association’s prestigious “Tennis Facility of the Year” award. I’On Club is home to three saline swimming pools. The main pool is the temperature-controlled Junior Olympic Pool. There is also a shallow baby pool for young children and an Adult Lounge Pool for members over 18 years of age.
